The WINGED ARROW was a well known medium clipper built in South Boston in 1852 by E. & H. O. Briggs for the California Trade. She was considered a beautiful and a very fast ship, mounting a flying dragon figurehead. She made several voyages from the east to San Francisco during the 1850's and 60's, all from Boston, save one from New York in 1866 which this card represents.
In 1868 she was sold at San Francisco to Wasserman & Co. the Russian-American fur company and made a number of voyages to and from
Alaska until 1874.
