Thomas Willis, American, born 1850 in Connecticut. Worked for silk embroidery thread maker in Brooklyn, N.Y. His marine paintings had embroidered ships on oil painted backgrounds. Active: ca 1880-1910. Died 1925 in New York City. Represented at Mariners Museum, Mystic Seaport, Peabody Museum.
