William Ferdinand Macy Born in New Bedford, 1852. Studied in New York with Robert Swain Gifford. Exhibited at National Academy of Design (1872 and 1873). Painted on Nantucket from 1877 to well into the 1890's. He gave classes in painting and drawing on the island. He died in 1901.
